Southwick Site, 28th Pl NE & NE 163rd, Shoreline
PSBO’s Birds Wintering in Urban Landscapes project depends on trained and experienced bird banders to band songbirds, volunteers confident with aging are especially in demand. The site manager will observe the first few extractions to ensure safe handling of small birds. Observers and scribes are welcome at banding sites, but please RSVP in advance, as the number of attendees is limited.
Not experienced with banding but enjoy bird watching? Put your binoculars to good use, help locate color-banded birds. Volunteer sighters can work at their own pace or join other volunteers to observe at large during the scheduled banding sessions. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
Dress appropriately for weather and bring food and drink to sustain yourself for the four hour session. Bathroom facilities are available at each site. Bird safety is paramount, banding sessions will be canceled if weather is foul.
